Taking the Proverbial Cake

Whilst making unmethodical attempts to fish for inspiration, what are the words to live by?

On the topic of inspiration, the sources remain vast and wildly random. While unmethodical ways prove to be the best, dry seasons a la one too many assignments constantly kill the mood. But of course, the application of K.I.S.S has always been ready to knock on your door.

While the Navy - once upon a time - could successfully implant that, keeping up with “keep it simple, stupid” calls for more than stupidity. For one, the attention to detail, colour syncing and practising the pose in the mirror has become the imperative element to just “keeping it simple”.

Even though the development for NINTH No.4 has been feeling quite like an underdeveloped child, the practice remains the same - keep it simple but blow it up, anyway. Cards on the table, I’ve made countless attempts to peacefully stride at glacial pace with the help of Tchaikovsky and time-outs for a good Dominos pizza. The life’s-all-good, stop-and-smell-the-roses take. But no. You cannot make fetch* happen this way.

As I map out the mood and concepts for this one, issue number 4 is keeping me on the toes for something even bigger. I can’t lay a finger on where it’ll take me, but in the meantime, I’ll be shoving simplicity aside for something different.

Pizza. Will. Wait.

(And that, ladies and gentleman, takes the proverbial cake.)
